I need some good underground rappers!?
I gotta new Ipod 120 gb, and I’m trying to put as many tracks as possible. I’m not into mainstream hip hop (i.e: Soulja Boi, Jeezy, 50 Cent, Plies etc), so I need some good underground rappers.

to get an idea of my preference, I listen to Reed Dollaz, Joey Jihad, Cyssero, Pappoose, Siagon, Freeway, Mos Def, The Roots, Canibus, Jay Electronica, Talib Kweli, Elzhi (from Slum Village), Beanie Sigel, Joe Budden, Ransom, Mobb Deep, Wu Tang, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Scarface, Common, Little Brother, Nas, AZ, etc.

ATMOSPHERE -it’s two guys Slug (Sean Daley) who raps and Ant (Anthony Davis) who’s a DJ and produces the beats. Spawn (Derek Turner) used to be a part of the group too but i’m pretty sure he left after the first album. check it out, i’ll be surprised if you don’t fall in love with it. some good songs are Scapegoat, Trying to find a Balance, Clay, Sound is Vibration, Sunshine (you’ve probably heard that one), Dont Forget, Shoulda Known, In Her Music Box, Yesterday, Smart Went Crazy… and thats only a little bit of them. I also like Brother Ali, Jurassic 5 and Living Legend for rappers. (I dont like most rap, i’m more into classic rock or downtempo and electronic.. anything with goood beats)

hope it helps

Being friends with your college adviser on Facebook?
On Facebook, my college adviser and I have been chatting through messages. I want to add her because I like her as a friend and I kind of have a crush on her. But the thing is, the pages that I’m fans of on there are not really "school friendly." Like I’m fans of the movies, Scarface, Goodfellas, The Sopranos, Saving Private Ryan, From Dusk Till Dawn, Desperado, Bad Santa and Monster’s Ball. All those movies have profanity and sex.

Should I make it where she can’t see my fan pages? Or just leave it alone?

I’m sure she doesn’t care what pages you are a fan of. She is a human too and she might like these movies. I don’t think she’ll look through what pages you’re a fan of because she probably doesn’t care about that. I thought you weren’t allowed to add teachers and stuff on facebook? Thats what my tutor teacher at school told me. :P D? g

A couple of questions about a custom Treo SSX subwoofer box..Does this look ok for the specs they recommended?
First I want to say Thanks in Advance to anyone who can help me with this. I don’t really understand car audio too well, so I am having a professional company online build my box for me. I hear the box is crucial to getting good bass from your system. I want to make sure I get the correct box with the right specs…since I just paid a lot of money for my sub, and it’s a very high quality sub I hear…so I would hate to see it go to waste. Here are the specs given by the company (Treo) for my particular 12 inch sub (and I only have one sub) Ported- 2.25 cu ft net, 35 sq ft vent, 18.5" long, F3=31.8Hz
–Now when I went to fill this info out on the custom box website, they never had anywhere for me to put in the 18.5 inches long for the port. I will copy and paste here what I see on the final page right before I am about to place my order for the box- Subwoofer Information
Subwoofer Size: 12 inches
# of Subwoofers: 1
Cutout Diameter: 11.125 inches
Mounting Depth: 6.375 inches
Enclosure Details
Port Type: Slot Port
Port Tuning: 31.8 Hz
Port Dimensions: 13.125 x 2.75 inches (Height x Width)
(port length is not displayed) NOTICE HOW IT SAYS PORT LENGTH NOT DISPLAYED?? I WAS NEVER ABLE TO ENTER IN A PORT LENGTH…so will this be ok for the sub? I don’t understand..unless the Square Inches of the port automatically determine this I would assume?
Port area: 36.09375 square inches
Number of Ports: 1
Net Internal Volume: 2.25 cubic feet
Port Volume: 0.9288 cubic feet (includes displacement of port materials)
Subwoofer Displacement: 0.2000 cubic feet per subwoofer
Total Internal Volume: 3.3788 cubic feet ($15.75 extra)
Number of Terminal Cups: 2 per subwoofer ($5.00 extra per subwoofer) NOTICE HERE I SELECTED THE OPTION FOR 2 TERMINAL CUPS…WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THIS?
Front Baffle: Dual-Layer Front Baffle - 1.5" Thick ($15.00 extra per subwoofer) AND HERE I SELECTED THE EXTRA THICKNESS OPTION. IS THIS THE RIGHT CHOICE? OR SHOULD DO I NOT NEED THIS, OR WILL IT JUST TAKE UP MORE SPACE?
Box Dimensions: 26.5" (w) x 20.75" (d) x 14.625" (h)

So, that is basically the custom specs I put into the website, so they can design my box accordingly. I just want to make sure I get the correct box for this sub, so that is why I am asking these questions. It seems that I put everything in right. My main concern is the port length, which it never did give me any option to enter it, and it won’t display it so I don’t know how much it is. And then about the woodthickness for the extra 15.00…is is needed? Thanks again. PS- the company/website I am ordering through is called klausaudio.com It’s the first site I found that will design the custom box for you. Most sites I see just have prefab boxes.
ONE OTHER CONCERN I have that I just noticed was where it says (and I will copy/paste) ""Total Internal Volume: 3.3788 cubic feet ($15.75 extra) ""

But my concern is that the specs said I needed 2.25 cu. ft net. Why does it say 3.3788 cubic feet? I entered in 2.25 when they asked during my box creation. Maybe I am just a little too over cautious, but just want to make sure this is right and that there are no errors here.

simple questions first.

first off: the manufacturer will give you "guidelines" to follow for building boxes. Amateur installers will go by these numbers. When you get more advanced, you measure the Theile small parameters with computer software and the computer tells you the box to make for the bass you want.

in regards to the twin terminal cups, you only need one, unless you are using a dual voice coil (DVC) subwoofer. If it has only only voice coil, only get one and if need be install the second one later. To find out what type of sub you have, look for how many sets of terminals you have on your subwoofer, if you have 2 sets (2 red and 2 black bindings) then get 2 terminals on the box.

The internal box volume issue: the manufacture stipulates the box should be 2.25 NET - the net is the keyword here. Net volume is box volume minus subwoofer volume (a typical subwoofer displaces around 1 cubic foot) so 3.37-1=2.37 - this is close enough. For a ported box, as long as your specs are within 10% it will still sound great.

For the ported issue: there are different ways to tune a subwoofer. It doesnt really matter if you use vents or ports, it just changes the size of them. The box building company will have programs that tell them if they build a box "x" big and you want to have "y" tuning, they will have to build a port or vent "z" big. There is not real need to tell them how to build the vent, only what tuning you want.

Baffle - 1.5" think - wow - how many watts are you feeding this thing? I have built a 18" 750 watt home theater monster tuned to 23 hz and I only used 3/4" and I never have problems and its enough to knock pictures off the wall - literally. On the other side, the less the box vibrates the more volume you get, will your ear notice a difference at normal listening levels - no - it might make a difference at 140 db plus, but then your an idiot for driving with it that loud. Also for adding weight you cut down on acceleration times and fuel mileage

Not sure if you already paid for the box, but you could prob do this your self for $100 or get someone to build it for you within your city for $200. The latter way is great - your saving huge money and giving someone in your community some cash! Think about it, you know how big your box has to be, you know how big your port has to be, as long as you can cut straight lines, glue, use a nail gun (optional) and a caulking gun, your set. And you can make a box you build your self look WAY nicer than a boring black carpeted box. I have custom built home theater speakers that sound and look as good (i used 3/4 mdf but the front has cherry stained mdf/veneer wood) as speakers worth $3000 but I did it all for $1200.

The head unit is the most important component in the stereo, closely followed by the amps, then boxes then subwoofer. So if your going through all of this to get optimized sound, dont get a $150 deck and a $100 amp - get like a $300 deck and a $200 amp

The 2 groups of feminist? Do they get along with one another?
I realized a while ago, that there are 2 distinct feminist groups. The first is the old nasty hag, who has never been married, is a ball-breaking b*tch, and does not shower, ever. She hates men with a passion and constantly brings up the fact that she was raped as a young child by her father, and therefore every single man is a rapist. She thinks make-up is a conspiracy against women. (My high school English teacher, all of that is true.)
Then there is the other group of feminists who wear deodorant and actually like being around guys every once in a while and can be fun to be around. (Rachel Maddow style)
I was wondering if these factions like being around one another?

No, I’m a liberal feminist, and I hate all other types of feminists and think that they’re wrong. People don’t realise how much of a split in feminist theory there is - it’s like asking how much Americans hate communists (a lot).

Socialist / dual-systems feminists are stupid, don’t understand feminist theory, try and combine them all and get it all wrong.

Marxist feminists are quite interesting but they hate capitalism and don’t believe it can do any good - whereas I think it’s a lot better than the other systems. They also have a particularly structural way of looking at people that means that I, a successful working class woman without children, has no place in their system, since I am a class traitor, and a non-productive woman who is living off the surplus profit provided by other people’s children.

Radical feminists are biological reductionists who think that women are naturally passive, peace-loving, baby-making and any other vomit-inducing stereotype you want to attach to women. As far as I’m concerned this is just simple sexism and I’ve no time for it - it sounds exactly like the rubbish Rousseau was peddling in the 18th century to try and deny women human rights.

Lesbian separatists - don’t even get me started - I am straight, I like men, no, a woman is not going to satisy me, no I do not want to be a political lesbian, no I do not care what you think about what goes on in my bedroom. The personal is personal.

Post-modern feminists - when you believe that nothing is true and everything is real, that’s a bit of a cop out, theory wise. It basically means you can agree or disagree with anything you feel like, and no-one can contradict you. I can’t stand all this modern relativism and ‘don’t label me’ ‘don’t be judgemental’ attitude - if your ancestors had thought like that, we wouldn’t have human rights at all.

Black feminism - yes, I get that black women have problems white women don’t, yes I get that sometimes you need the safety of traditional family and community relations in order to act as a power base for your struggle against racism - but that doesn’t mean your problems with sexism don’t exist, and it doesn’t mean white feminists weren’t right about a lot of the male / female stuff. I really hate that women who fought for all other women to have rights are called racist because the problems of black women didn’t occur to them. Equality is not racist, however limited that theory may have been.

(breathes)

I think that’s about it for now. But yes, other feminists p*ss me off. I would rather hang out with deluded anti feminists who get all their information off youtube and think the Illuminati is secretly controlling the money supply than listen to any of that sh*t.

This is also why it amuses me when anti-feminists think all feminists think the same, or that we have a ‘leader’. Feminists have their own strongly held political beliefs just like everybody else :-)

Sometimes people can form friendships in spite of strong differences in outlook and attitude. I have friends of various political stripes, though they all have reasonable hygiene and aren’t big time haters. At least not around me.

I’d be much more inclined to hang with Rachel Maddow. Actually, I’d like to do a whole lot more than hang out but that’s another topic.
J D | Jan 28, 2010

You are incorrect feminism is very diverse with many diff groups. Your high school teacher is wrong. No feminist ever stated all men were rapists, it was spoken by a fictional charachter in a book thirty years ago. Duh!
Conor A | Jan 28, 2010

The first type is actually a radical feminist, who hates all men.
The second type is the dictionary definition of a feminist, who believes that men and women deserve to have equal rights and opportunities.
Wild Sage | Jan 28, 2010

These groupings are simply your opinion of what a feminist is
However there are actually 4 types of feminists in western society:
Laura Mulvey Feminists- who believe that women are most seem as sexually objects to men.
Liberal Feminists- who believe its wrong for the public to believe women as passive little girls who need protection by men.
Socialist Feminists- who believe the representation of a "traditional housewife" is wrong and should be seen as equal professionals as men
and finally Post Feminists- Who believe that women are as complex as men and should be valued equally.

I think Liberal and Social would get along as their both striving for a positive and realistic representation of women in society. I don’t think the rest would get on with Post Feminists as they often see the other types of feminists as overexaggerating and not looking at individual women and how every woman should be treated as deep complex beings.
LongNeck | Jan 28, 2010

There are much more than just two groups. You haven’t even mentioned those who fit into those categories and don’t even KNOW they are feminists. There is such a thing as a hot chick, who DENIES she is a feminist and they are some of the sickest / toxic examples out there.

American women have been born and raised in the corrosive negative world of feminism. They can’t help look at the world like a feminist and thinking like one. Even against their own will.

A 6 year old girl in the Disney Movie "ENCHANTED" said "Men only want one thing" and she had NO IDEA WHAT SHE WAS SAYING. She even said so herself!! This is feminist "men are all pigs" pounded into the minds of young girls before they are women at all.

By the time the Average American girl is 8 she already believes:

films in villages or small towns?
I am a big fan of FILMS like STRAW DOGS, like when the female commits
a sexual act reluctantly, or the rough sex in another village FILM called PUFFBALL(the devils eyeball ..US).
ARE there any other movies like that when the innocent female lead
loses her inhibitions whether in a small town or village. The criteria is either boredom, within a marriage or an act to save her or a loved one, like DEAD CALM with BILLY ZANE and Nicole Kidman.

I think sexual TENSION in tv drama or movies is a little gold nugget that can be the making or breaking of a sometimes lame
script.
PLEASE OFFER UP SOME OTHER TITLES THAT FIT THE CRITERIA, THANKS

Ryan’s Daughter is a classic.

Hmm… the only movie that comes sort of close to that in my mind would be The Witches of Eastwick. Alex, Jane, and Suki are three bored New England women left to live without their husbands (Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfieffer). They innocently conjure up a mystery man, who could satisfy all their desires. A new man moves into town - and he fits the bill perfectly. Daryl Van Horne (Jack Nicholson) is filthy rich and wild eyed, and within days the three women have all discovered almighty power within themselves. Will good triumph over evil, or will Daryl continue to have his evil way with his witches ?

simple algebra word problem but i totally blanked out.?
Josh was in charge of buying milk for a class picnic. Milk is sold in half-gallon carts and gallon cartons. The half gallons cost $1.46 and the gallon carts cost $2.39. Josh bought 21 carts and paid $41.82. How many carts of each size did he buy?

Variables:
Half gallon carton- a
Gallon carton- b

Okay so I know that the two equations are:

1.46a + 2.39b = $41.82
&
a + b =21

Thanks so much =)
-Sarah

You need to eliminate one of the variables. Here I think is the easiest way:

Multiply the first equation by 100. We’ll call this equation [3]
146a + 239b = 4182

Multiply the second equation by 146. We’ll call this equation [4]
146a + 146b = 3066

Now subtract equation [4] from equation [3], eliminating "a":
(239-146)b = 4182 - 3066
=> 93b = 1116
=> b = 1116/93 = 12
Then from the second equation, a = 21-b = 9
