Is the Temperance Movement an example of nonviolent civil action?
Writing an essay, need a successful example of nonviolent civil action. Although Prohibition was eventually repealed, was the initial movement nonviolent civil action?
Thanks.

You may need to research on Carrie Nation.

Carrie Nation and others smashing up bars with crowbars and axes is non-violent? Look to MLK, Gandhi, and the election of Obama as President of examples of non-violent civil action. In the interest of full disclosure I can’t stand Obama, but his election is a great example of non-violent civil action.

The best would be the actions taken by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi for the liberation of India from British Empire.

No. This period was so turbulent it caused the founding of the FBI, rioting policemen, gangs running Chicago and most urban street corners, and lots of people were injured in the Bootlegging Movement.
